WELCOME TO THE BEST Northern New Mexican cuisine
Owned and Operated by James Farrell
After a 20 year career in Banking James took over ownership of Boxcar in 2016 from his father, long time Greenwich resident and businessman, John Farrell who originally opened it in 1994. James grew up in Greenwich and has a deep ties to the town where he and his wife MaryAnne, a NICU nurse at Greenwich Hospital, live and raised their three daughters. You’ll usually find James busy at Boxcar saying hello to guests or nearby helping to setup their ever popular Food Truck for private parties. Taking care of his long time staff and loyal customers to maintain the welcoming family friendly atmosphere and delicious high quality authentic food at Boxcar always keeps James motivated so say hello when you see him!
Boxcar Cantina features authentic Northern new Mexican cuisines, which moves beyond Southwest/Tex-Mex food. The Southwest is actually divided into distinct regions, each with its own cooking style and heritage. While each has its roots in Mexican cooking, Northern New Mexican is a blend of the three cultures – Native American, Spanish and Anglo-European.
The Farrell family welcomes you to Boxcar Cantina where we feature authentic Northern New Mexican cuisine. We pride ourselves on offering some of the most delicious food in town by using only the highest quality ingredients. Since opening, our commitment has been to source local and / or organic ingredients whenever possible and always use sustainable raised organic meats. We know our customers appreciate the quality of our food and we love serving delicious meals.
